Reposition 2026 — rebuild
Goal: Rebuild a diversified no-QQQ book: 5 slots ~20% each (VTI, IWP, VXUS, IEF, DBMF). IWP (mid-cap growth) is the attack sleeve; it complements VTI rather than overlapping its megacap tech.
Approach: 60% equity (VTI neutral core + IWP attack sleeve + VXUS) / 40% defense (IEF duration + DBMF trend). IWP chosen over GINN (decision #16) for portfolio fit: tech-light/consumer-heavy, de-concentrates VTI instead of doubling its megacap tech.
Design settled (decisions #15/#16). NOT yet executed — currently 100% cash/SGOV (last approved capture #9, 2026-06-22). Human buys the 5 slots at E*TRADE. · Total: $11,179.51

Slot index — order, entry signal, exit
| Slot | Order | Goal band | Held now | Entry / signal | Exit criteria | Status | Review |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VTI | Wave 1 (neutral core): buy toward the 18-22% target slot | 18-22% all | not held | No gate. The July-6 index-flow window (decision #11) has passed; VTI is a neutral core with no rate/signal dependency. Refresh E*TRADE prices + human review + review<id> --approve before ordering. | Trim only if the slot drifts above ~22% once the full book is held; not a return-seeking exit. 5-slot exit rules are not yet written (author before relying on them). | draft | 2026-08-03 |
| VXUS | Wave 1 (neutral core): buy toward the 18-22% target slot | 18-22% all | not held | No gate. Neutral international core, no rate/signal dependency; July-6 window passed. Refresh E*TRADE prices + human review + approve before ordering. | Trim only if the slot drifts above ~22% once the full book is held. 5-slot exit rules not yet written. | draft | 2026-08-03 |
| IWP | Wave 2 (attack sleeve): buy toward the 18-22% target slot AFTER the neutral core is in | 18-22% all | not held | No hard gate, but sequence AFTER VTI/VXUS: IWP is high-beta mid-cap growth, most rate-sensitive slot; build the core first, then add the growth engine. Refresh prices + human review + approve before ordering. | Re-trigger review (decision #16) on a growth/consumer-led drawdown or a rotation back to megacap tech. Trim if above ~22%. 5-slot exit rules not yet written. | draft | 2026-08-03 |
| DBMF | Wave 2 (trend sleeve): buy toward the 18-22% target slot | 18-22% all | not held | No gate. Crisis-alpha / trend diversifier; no先後 urgency vs equities. Buy with the Wave-2 attack sleeve. Refresh prices + human review + approve before ordering. | Review whether the single trend sleeve still earns its slot in a long calm bull (it bleeds in chop). Trim if above ~22%. 5-slot exit rules not yet written. | draft | 2026-08-03 |
| IEF | Wave 3 (GATED): buy the duration slot LAST, only after a rate-path signal — do NOT lead the rebuild with IEF | 18-22% all | not held | GATED (decision #14, supersedes the 'bonds first' staging of #13). Un-gate only when a rate-path signal appears: 7/29 FOMC drops the hike-bias, OR 10Y back below ~4.3%, OR CPI breaks the inflation uptrend, OR a flight-to-quality. Until then, do not buy. Confirmation point = 2026-07-29 FOMC. | Reduce if the rate/recession thesis changes or duration risk becomes too large. Trim if above ~22%. 5-slot exit rules not yet written. | draft | 2026-07-30 |
VTI draft
- Move / order — Wave 1 (neutral core): buy toward the 18-22% target slot
- Entry / signal — No gate. The July-6 index-flow window (decision #11) has passed; VTI is a neutral core with no rate/signal dependency. Refresh E*TRADE prices + human review + review<id> --approve before ordering.
- Exit criteria — Trim only if the slot drifts above ~22% once the full book is held; not a return-seeking exit. 5-slot exit rules are not yet written (author before relying on them).
- Sizing — ~20% of account (18-22% band). Human chooses one-shot vs tranche and the dollar amount; enter every order at E*TRADE.
- Review date — 2026-08-03
- Rationale — First wave with VXUS: build the diversified neutral core first to bring the ~81% cash risk down before adding the high-beta attack sleeve. Order: VTI/VXUS first -> IWP/DBMF next -> IEF last (gated).
VXUS draft
- Move / order — Wave 1 (neutral core): buy toward the 18-22% target slot
- Entry / signal — No gate. Neutral international core, no rate/signal dependency; July-6 window passed. Refresh E*TRADE prices + human review + approve before ordering.
- Exit criteria — Trim only if the slot drifts above ~22% once the full book is held. 5-slot exit rules not yet written.
- Sizing — ~20% of account (18-22% band). Human chooses one-shot vs tranche; enter at E*TRADE.
- Review date — 2026-08-03
- Rationale — First wave with VTI: establish the diversified neutral core before the high-beta sleeve. Ex-US diversification the prior book lacked.
IWP draft
- Move / order — Wave 2 (attack sleeve): buy toward the 18-22% target slot AFTER the neutral core is in
- Entry / signal — No hard gate, but sequence AFTER VTI/VXUS: IWP is high-beta mid-cap growth, most rate-sensitive slot; build the core first, then add the growth engine. Refresh prices + human review + approve before ordering.
- Exit criteria — Re-trigger review (decision #16) on a growth/consumer-led drawdown or a rotation back to megacap tech. Trim if above ~22%. 5-slot exit rules not yet written.
- Sizing — ~20% of account (18-22% band). Given high beta into a rate headwind, human may prefer tranching in rather than one-shot. Enter at E*TRADE.
- Review date — 2026-08-03
- Rationale — Second wave: do not front-load the highest-beta slot ahead of the core. IWP is the active-growth attack sleeve balancing the defensive slots (decision #15/#16).
DBMF draft
- Move / order — Wave 2 (trend sleeve): buy toward the 18-22% target slot
- Entry / signal — No gate. Crisis-alpha / trend diversifier; no先後 urgency vs equities. Buy with the Wave-2 attack sleeve. Refresh prices + human review + approve before ordering.
- Exit criteria — Review whether the single trend sleeve still earns its slot in a long calm bull (it bleeds in chop). Trim if above ~22%. 5-slot exit rules not yet written.
- Sizing — ~20% of account (18-22% band). Human chooses amount; enter at E*TRADE.
- Review date — 2026-08-03
- Rationale — Second wave with IWP: DBMF has no gate and no ordering urgency vs equities; group it with the attack sleeve rather than the gated bond leg.
IEF draft
- Move / order — Wave 3 (GATED): buy the duration slot LAST, only after a rate-path signal — do NOT lead the rebuild with IEF
- Entry / signal — GATED (decision #14, supersedes the 'bonds first' staging of #13).
- Exit criteria — Reduce if the rate/recession thesis changes or duration risk becomes too large. Trim if above ~22%. 5-slot exit rules not yet written.
- Sizing — ~20% of account (18-22% band), only once un-gated. Human chooses amount; enter at E*TRADE.
- Review date — 2026-07-30
- Rationale — Last wave, and conditional: inflation-con reads YELLOW (core PCE 3mo 3.52%/6mo 4.14% still sticky), 10Y 4.38%, FOMC dots project a 2026 hike, cuts priced out; human read (6/29) flags a 1-2% IEF downside tail before the Aug FOMC. Un-gate decision keys on the 7/29 FOMC, hence the 7/30 review date.
